Chives bloom in late summer with it's pale purple/pink flowers atop 1' cylindrical hollow leaves. Cut back Chives to 2"-3" from it's stem and they will grow back to offer you more for drying through the winter months which can then be added to dips, soups, eggs and anything you want to add onion flavor to.
Chives are easy to grow and low to maintain, once planted, chives need little care and will come back year after year as they slowly re-seed. Divide chives once every 2-3 years to transplant elsewhere in the garden.
